What The Bible Can Do For You

The Bible can accomplish God*s will in your heart, mind and life. It can give you faith that will take you to Heaven. It can make you pleasing and acceptable in the sight of God. It can become an antidote for sin. It can fill wasted time and replace the wasteland of TV. It is the only thing that is powerful enough to accomplish all those things and more. There is no limit to what the Bible can do for you. The only thing that can limit the power of the Bible in your life is neglecting it.

Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Pastor Kent McBay said recently that If you have not memorized the Bible yet, you need to study it. Studying the Bible can give you an increasing love and longing for it. I have composed a prayer that you might pray or emulate before you read the Bible.

Lord, as I read the Bible, cause it to give me a longing for it, cause it to reprove me, correct me, speak to my heart, hold my interest, excite me, give me joy and rejoicing, comfort me and guide me. Cause it to teach me, amaze me, surprise me, inspire me and answer my questions. Make it more important to me. Let it keep me from mistakes, warn me, reward me, cleanse my thoughts, give me victory over sin and keep sin from having dominion over me. Cause it to make me acceptable in your sight.

If the Bible is not doing all those things and more for you, you have not studied it enough.

Luke 4:4: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Psalms 19:14: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
